Abstract
This paper describes the hardware implementation of the Video Scan Con verter for the Grand Alliance High Definition Television (GA-HDTV) sys tem. GA-HDTV supports two basic video formats. One of the two formats is a progressive video and the other is interlaced video. The Scan Con verter system converts between the two GA-HDTV video formats with seam less switching of input video. This paper also describes the treatment of interlaced video that originates from a film sequence (either 24 H z or 30 Hz) for progressive scan conversion.
