Abstract
Acetylacetone and malononitrile were coupled with diazotised arylamine s to give arylazoacetylacetones and arylazomalononitriles; these when refluxed with 3-amino-4,6-dimethyl-2-thieno[2,3-b]pyridine carbohydraz ide in the presence of glacial acetic acid yielded the corresponding r bonyl]-3-amino-4,6-dimethyl-thieno[2,3-b]pyridine dyes. The dyes were applied to polyester and polyamide fibres, and their spectral and fast ness properties measured.
