Abstract
Medium-spin experimental data on alternating parity bands in (153)EU a re analysed and compared with results of cranking calculations assumin g no octupole deformation, dynamic octupole deformation and static oct upole deformation, It is concluded that the existence of static octupo le deformation is plausible in this nucleus at medium spin.
