Abstract
Atomic absorption spectrometry methods are described to measure Ag, Co , and Si in Port wine by GFAAS and Zn using flame atomization. Dilutio n is the only sample preparation step required before quantification. The detection limits were 0.20, 1.6, 7.9, and 21 mu g/L for silver, co balt, silicon, and zinc, respectively. The recovery study performed by the method of standard additions with three different concentrations of the elements showed values of >92%. The precision of the method was also evaluated. The relative standard deviation was 5.7, 10.7, 6.7, 8 .5% for Ag, Co, Si and Zn, respectively, which suggests that this meth od is suitable for routine analysis.
