Abstract
The incidence of adult diapause was examined in Protophormia terraenov ae (Robineau-Desvoidy) in the strain from Obihiro, Japan, under variou s photoperiodic and temperature conditions. Although at 30 degrees C n o adults entered diapause in either long-day or short-day conditions, between 17.5 and 27.5 degrees C the insect showed a long-day photoperi odic response. The incidence of diapause was higher at lower temperatu res under both long-day and short-day conditions.
