Abstract
Over the last few years, the pharmaceutical industry has financed an i ncreasing number of health economic evaluations. The purpose of this a rticle is to describe how and why the pharmaceutical industry is apply ing health economic evaluations. Seven different fields of application are identified, and the varying reasons for use are discussed.
