The closest random packings of a binary system of rigid disks on a pla
ne were considered for the case when the difference between the dimens
ions of the disks is small. The packing density was obtained as a func
tion of the relative difference between the sizes of the disks, the co
ncentration of large disks, and the average gap between disks in the s
ystem. Numerical experiments, which were conducted when the concentrat
ions of the disks were equal, showed good agreement with theoretical r
esults.
