Based on symmetry consideration, more generalized chiral field terms a
re proposed to restore the chiral SU(2)(L)xSU(2)(R) symmetry of strong
interaction. As a result, a modified quark-quark interaction is obtai
ned. Applying this interaction to nucleon-nucleon scattering, the agre
ement between the theoretical phase shifts of partial waves and experi
mental data is improved.
