In this paper the practice oriented approaches for production of ethan
ol using free and immobilised cells are described. Also, aspects of wa
ste handling and comparative approaches of production of alcohol from
different raw materials are highlighted. All the backup for technology
like immobilisation methods, comparison of yeast with bacteria, globa
l production methods, industrial chemistry aspects have been focussed
for techno-economic considerations.
