Ps. Rajam et S. Krishnamoorthy, STUDIES ON M-CRESOL-FORMALDEHYDE CATIONIC RESINS SUBSTITUTED BY CHARCOAL OF EMBLICA-OFFICINALIS BARK, Research and Industry, 40(4), 1995, pp. 295-296
The polymeric matrix of m-cresol-formaldehyde sulphonated cationic res
in was partially substituted by different amount of sulphonated charco
al obtained from Emblica officinalis bark. These matrices are characte
rised by physical measurements like absolute density, attrition percen
tage and swelling. The exchange capacity of each of the matrices is fo
und out fdr the exchange of Na+, Ca++, Mg++ and Zn++ ions respectively
. It has been found out that the substitution of charcoal up to 20 per
cent in the phenolic resin is economical.
