INVESTIGATION ON SOLIDIFICATION PROCESSIN G OF THE DIRECTIONALLY SOLIDIFIED SUPERALLOY CMSX-6

An investigation of the solidification behavior was carried out on the directionally solidified single crystal superalloy CMSX 6. The relati onship between structure morphology and the process parameters has bee n experimentally determined and illustrated in a solidification diagra m. The metallographic analyses of transverse sections within the solid ification interval yield the sequence of phase formation and the evolu tion of solid fraction. The solidification process and the correspondi ng structure have been discussed in detail.
