Abstract
The paper is devoted to the experimental investigation of the plasma e quilibrium response to externally applied non-axisymmetric disturbance s of the magnetic field in an axisymmetric open trap. The results are presented for dipole and quadrupole disturbances which were applied in side the expander end cell. Comparison of the experimental data with t he estimates made on the basis of the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) theory is given.
