This article is based on wave experiments performed in the toroidal pl
asma device Blaamann, and a comparison between experimental and theore
tical values for the dispersion relation. A motorized probe, which cou
ld be moved in two axial directions, gave us the opportunity to invest
igate spatial dependencies, in our case wavefronts of ion-Bernstein wa
ves. The article demonstrates how wave measurements of this kind can b
e used for obtaining ion temperature and density relations between the
ion species H+, H-2(+) and H-3(+) in a weakly ionized hydrogen gas. T
he resulting relations are compared with what was obtained in a simila
r experimental set-up in the plasma device Thorello in Italy.
