Abstract
The reaction of 1, 1, 1-trichloro-2, 2-bis(p-substituted-phenyl)ethane s with bromine in carbon tetrachloride under nitrogen atmosphere; and in the presence of light results in the formation of 1, 1-dichloro-2, 2-bis(p-substituted-phenyl)ethylenes. Whereas an identical reaction co nducted under oxygen atmosphere, leads to the formation of benzophenon e derivatives.
