Abstract
The recent techniques of chromosome painting allow the molecular compa rison of chromosomes from distantly related mammals. Here we show a mo dified ZOO-FISH technique based on lower stringency which allows to id entify syntenic regions between human and Indian muntjac chromosomes. While when probing with human chromosome 2, no consistent cluster of h ybridization were observed, with human chromosome 9, a number of discr ete fluorescent regions along the Indian muntjac chromosomes were foun d.
