Abstract
A theoretical treatment, based on the Maxwell stress tensor, is used t o evaluate the effect of magnetic and electrostatic fields on the surf ace tension of liquids. This treatment makes it possible to consider a ny kind of field and surface shape compatible with the applied field. Previous calculations performed for electrostatic fields and particula r surface shapes are extended.
