Abstract
We report the results of a Raman study on Cs2MoS4 under hydrostatic pr essures up to 12 GPa. Two successive phase transitions are observed at 8.0 and 9.7 GPa, respectively. A low frequency phonon mode with a neg ative pressure shift is seen in the low pressure phase. The results ar e discussed within the framework of structural phase transitions drive n by a soft phonon.
