Through an analysis of privateering and invasion threats on a small st
retch of the south shore of the Moray Firth, it is suggested that thes
e maritime factors played a significant part in the development of tra
nsport facilities in North-East Scotland, particularly on the Aberdeen
-Banff road during the period 1746-1815.
