Wg. Mccluggage et al., NONNEOPLASTIC GLANDULAR STRUCTURES IN BONE-MARROW - A TECHNICAL ARTIFACT, Journal of Clinical Pathology, 48(12), 1995, pp. 1141-1142
A case of non-neoplastic glandular structures embedded in the centre o
f a bone marrow trephine biopsy is described. This is a hitherto unrep
orted phenomenon. These glandular structures originated from the derma
l sweat gland and represented an artefactual lesion produced by the bi
opsy procedure. The importance of considering the possibility of non-n
eoplastic glandular structures in bone marrow is stressed, in order to
avoid a misdiagnosis of metastatic adenocarcinoma.
