B. Gersak et T. Gabrijelcic, SUCCESSFUL SURGICAL REMOVAL OF PARTIALLY EXPANDED PALMAZ STENT FROM EXTERNAL ILIAC ARTERY, Panminerva Medica, 37(2), 1995, pp. 92-94
Insertion of intravascular stents into various arteries including coro
nary arteries has become an integral part of vascular interventions, p
articularly in the treatment of aortoiliac arteriosclerotic disease, T
he incidence of vascular complications remains relatively high despite
the better stent design and inserting techniques. We report a case wh
ere successful removal of partially expanded Palmaz stent from externa
l iliac artery was needed due to a rare complication: a balloon cathet
er burst resulting in an insufficient stent expansion in an improper p
osition.
