Plants were regenerated in culture from leaf segments of the scented-l
eaved geranium Pelargonium graveolens. Callus was induced on Murashige
and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 5.0 mu M each of naphthalene
acetic acid, 2,4-dichlorophenoxy-acetic acid and 2.5 mu M Of kinetin.
Primary callus on transfer to MS medium supplemented with 20 mu M 2-is
opentenyl adenine and 10 mu M kinetin induced maximum shoot formation.
Addition of adenine sulfate at 108 mu M promoted prolific multiple sh
oot formation. Excised plantlets were rooted in liquid medium in the p
resence of indole-3-butyric acid or phloroglucinol. Regenerated plants
were successfully established in soil.
