The ability of strains of genus Epidermophyton to grow at different co
ncentrations of NaCl (ranged from 0 to 10%) was studied. A reduction i
n the diameter of colonies was observed as the concentration of NaCl i
ncreased. A nearly complete absence of macroconidia were shown even at
the lowest concentration assayed. The geophilic species E. stockdalea
e tolerated higher concentrations of NaCl(>7%) than E. floccosum (<3%)
