Abstract
The enormous progress in molecular biology has created powerful means and techniques for the analysis of the human genome. These tools inclu de a generation of DNA markers which increase the potential applicatio ns of linkage analysis in medical genetics, not only a a research tool , but also in the management of families with hereditary disease. Basi c terminology and principles are explained and some applications in th e field of dermatology are presented.
