The facial and meridional isomers of Co(5-MeOqo)(3) were prepared by t
he interaction of 5-methoxy-1,2-benzoquinone-2-oxime (5-MeOqoH) with c
obalt(II) chloride, separated by chromatography and characterized by H
-1 and C-13 NMR. The structure of the facial isomer was determined by
X-ray crystallography. The complex is octahedral and the ligands chela
te through the oximic nitrogen forming five membered rings.
