Abstract
The hydride complex [ReH5(PMe(2)Ph)(3)] reacted with 2-mercaptopyridin e (pySH) in the presence of HBF4 giving [ReH(pyS)(PMe(2)Ph)(4)]BF4 (1) and [ReHF(pyS)(2) (PMe(2)Ph)(2)]BF4 (2). The X-ray structures of both complexes have been determined and are discussed. The known complex [ ReH(pyS)(2)(PPh(3))(2)] and new [ReH(SipyS)(2)(PPh(3))(2)] (3) have be en prepared directly from [ReOCl3(PPh(3))(2)], NaBH4 and the appropria te thiol. Analogous reaction of [ReOCl3(dppe)] (dppe = Ph(2)PCH(2)CH(2 )PPh(2)) with pySH gave [ReH4(pyS)(dppe)] (4).
