Abstract
Phosphine oxides (R(3)P=O) are conveniently converted into phosphinimi nes (R(3)P=NH) by recycling several times through the sequence: trifli c anhydride; ammonia; evaporation. Half of the triflic anhydride is us ed at each repeat.
