Thermal response of cross-linked poly (N-isopropylacrylamide) (NIPAAm)
gel grafted on a single ion track in poly (ethylenterephthalate) (PET
) was investigated using electrical conductivity. The graft layer shri
nked above 31 degrees C resulting in an increase of current through th
e pore. The technique enables detailed swelling and shrinking studies
in grafted single-ion tracks including a precise determination of volu
me phase transition temperatures. In this way a basis for experiments
with large organic molecules relevant to drug release is established.
