T. Bauer et al., THE YOUNG STAR CLUSTER R-64 IN THE OB ASSOCIATION LH-9 RESOLVED WITH GROUND-BASED CCD OBSERVATIONS, Astronomy and astrophysics, 305(1), 1996, pp. 135-139
Ground-based observations of R 64 were performed with a new high-resol
ution CCD imaging camera at the Danish 1.54 m telescope at ESO, La Sil
la. Richardson-Lucy image restoration technique with noise suppression
using the wavelet transform, and a new fixed pattern removal techniqu
e was applied to obtain images with high angular resolution. R 64 was
found to be a young compact cluster consisting of at least 37 stars wi
thin a field of 15 '' x 10 ''. V, I photometry covering a range of 5 m
agnitudes is presented as well as the first color-magnitude diagram fo
r R 64. From our V measurements we estimate a lower limit for the tota
l mass of R 64 of 320 M..
