CONDITION OF SYSTEM MATRICES IN IMAGE-RESTORATION

The restoration of an object from its blurred image is made difficult by the presence of noise in the image and the ill condition of the blu rring matrix. Existing literature has concentrated on smoothing method s to reduce the effects of noise but has paid little attention to quan tifying the amount of ill condition of the blurring matrix. We propose a measure of condition appropriate for image restoration and study th e degree of ill condition of the blurring matrix. The dependence of th e condition on the size of the image is demonstrated.
