The design and performance of new attachment chambers for an x-ray dif
fractometers are described. The x-ray chambers allow studies to be car
ried out within a temperature range of 293 to 2773 K under a vacuum do
wn to 5 x 10(-6) Pa (three samples can be measured under vacuum using
a rotatable sample holder), in air (at 293 - 1473 K), and in an atmosp
here of corrosive gases.
