The effect of the electron beam physical vapor deposition CoCrAlY and
CoCrAlY/ZrO2 + 8wt.%Y2O3 coatings with different thickness of the cera
mic layer on the life of the nickel base alloys were investigated. Coa
tings with a ceramic layer improved the time to failure of the base al
loy. The dependence of the stress-rupture properties of alloys with th
ree layers of metal/ceramic coating on the thickness of the zirconia l
ayer is expressed by the curve with the maximum corresponding to a 100
mu m thickness.
