The electrochemical synthesis of new polydifluorenyls bearing polyethe
r or alkyl substituents is described. The polymerization process (in t
erms of yield and mechanism) is discussed, as well as the electrochemi
cal behavior and the physicochemical properties of the new polymers. T
heir affinity with K+, Na+ and Cs+ is pointed out when analyzing the r
eduction of poly(IV) or the reduction of a bilayer of polybenzhy-dryli
denefluorene/poly(I, II, III or IV).
