Pe. Markovsky, PREPARATION AND PROPERTIES OF ULTRAFINE (SUBMICRON) STRUCTURE TITANIUM-ALLOYS, Materials science & engineering. A, Structural materials: properties, microstructure and processing, 203(1-2), 1995, pp. 1-4
A method of obtaining ultrafine structure (UFS) states (with a crystal
size less than 0.5 mu m) in two-phase titanium alloys from bulk start
ing material (without the stage of powder preparation) is discussed. T
he method is based on the results of an investigation of deformation p
rocesses (on rolling) with low total degree of deformation (\epsilon\l
ess than or equal to 1) and ''undeveloped'' recrystallization. Tensile
testing of these UFS states was done in the temperature range from -1
96 to 550 degrees C. It was found that the UFS states have a specific
deformation behaviour and improved mechanical properties.
