E. Daser, HOW TO ACHIEVE OPENNESS - ABOUT THE RELAT IONSHIP OF TECHNIQUE, COUNTERTRANSFERENCE AND BEGEGNUNG, Forum der Psychoanalyse, 11(4), 1995, pp. 311-323
After a short review of the relationship of understanding and ''Begegn
ung'' founded on a concept of interactive integration, openness and ef
fect of a ''triangulating dialogue'' in which countertransference, tec
hnique and the contributions of the patient form the shifting points o
f view of a continuous change and development of perspectives. If such
a dialogue is to be successful, technique appears as a helpful partne
r and no longer as a fixed set of rules and regulations; then countert
ransference turns into self-perception in which the patients are able
to portray their conflict; and finally a ''tertium quid'' (third point
) is formed in which patient and therapist can meet.
