J. Brockmann, DOES EMPIRICAL PSYCHOTHERAPY-RESEARCH PRO DUCE RELEVANT RESULTS FOR PSYCHOANALYTIC WORK, Forum der Psychoanalyse, 11(4), 1995, pp. 348-364
According to the results of empirical psychotherapy research - provisi
onally as they might be - the following ingredients of therapeutic eff
icacy are working in individual psychodynamic therapies: 1) therapeuti
c bond (transference and working alliance); 2) interpretation; 3) ther
apeutic contract (treatment duration for instance); 4) patient's self-
relatedness. My work is largely based on recently published reviews on
the results of anglo-american empirical psychotherapy research, espec
ially of psychodynamic therapies. My reference on the four ingredients
is justified by their strong affirmation through empirical research a
nd by their relevance for therapeutic practice.
