Abstract
Localization of lipids in the CNS is considered from an historical per spective. General consideration is given to the identification and sep aration of different parts of the CNS and to the recognition and detec tion of lipids. Problems associated with each of these aspects are not ed. More treatment is given to the localization of gangliosides and th e contributions of Leon Wolfe are highlighted.
