L. Vidmanic et al., EUTROPHICATION OF SILVER-LAKE - PLANKTON AND BOTTOM FAUNA CHARACTERISTICS, Fresenius environmental bulletin, 4(12), 1995, pp. 713-718
As a part of investigations on the present state of the quality of Sil
ver Lake, causes of its degradation, and protection measures, chemical
and biological investigations were carried out in October of 1994. It
was found that structure of phytoplankton and its extremely high abun
dance clearly indicate eutrophic water. Abundance of zooplankton was r
elatively high, but biomass was low in all samples, since individuals
of small dimensions prevailed. Live organisms of macrozoobenthos were
virtually absent, inasmuch as since degradation of bottom sediment qua
lity and anaerobic conditions make for a habitat no longer suitable fo
r macrozoobenthos.
