A multi-functional apparatus used for the study and certification of t
he wavelength of light sources is described. The wavelength range of i
nterest is from 0.5-4.0 pm. The instrument is capable of characterizin
g the radiation from om spectral lamps, as well as gas and semi-conduc
tor lasers. An error analysis is presented for the measurement of wave
length using a Fabry-Perot interferometer.
