Abstract
In infant and pediatric populations undergoing hemodialysis or CVVH(D) , blood flow rates through the system are in the range of 3 to 5 mls/k g/min. Because of this and the physical size of this population, it is necessary to have specialized vascular access different from that uti lized in adult patients. We recently evaluated a number of acute and c hronic access catheters in infants and children as small as 2 kilogram s and report our experience.
