Abstract
We develop a fast operator splitting (OS) method to solve spectral lin e radiative transfer problems in time-dependent hydrodynamic computati ons with shock discontinuities, assuming complete redistribution. The convergence properties and the results obtained with our method are co mpared with results obtained using a modified core-saturation method a nd with the LAMBDA-iteration. We find that our operator splitting meth od is robust, accurate and fast.
