D. Karilacohen et al., TESTICULAR CHORIOCARCINOMA REVEALED BY A LOCALIZED PULMONARY-EDEMA - A CASE-REPORT, Intensive care medicine, 21(12), 1995, pp. 1036-1038
We report the case of a young man hospitalized because of an acute pul
monary embolism presenting as a focal pulmonary edema, without evidenc
e of left ventricular failure. This pulmonary embolism was caused by a
testicular choriocarcinoma that entailed both a neoplastic venous inv
olvement with pulmonary neoplastic embolism, and a compression of infe
rior vena cava with thrombosis and subsequent pulmonary thromboembolis
m. This case combines two unusual associations: (i) Pulmonary embolism
causing a localized pulmonary edema, (ii) Neoplastic pulmonary emboli
sm of a testicular choriocarcinoma.
