Abstract
Expression of a pykF-lacZ fusion was studied as a function of the carb on source in wild-type strains and strains lacking or overproducing th e FruR protein of Escherichia coil, FruR controls the response to the carbon source by repressing pykF expression more strongly under glucon eogenic than under glycolytic conditions, a phenomenon rye term catabo lite activation.
