Abstract
This article deals with recent developments of the contents and design of patent databases. These are in particular patent citations, patent drawings, full text databases and thesaurus-structured searchable cla ssifications. Recent amendments in the design of patent databases are changes in the data formats used and index generation to facilitate cr oss-file searching.
