Abstract
Of all classes of psychotropic medications, perhaps only neuroleptics have been found to be generally safe and to improve efficacy when comb ined with ECT in psychotic patients (Klapheke, 1993). However, we are unaware of reports of the concurrent use of the new antipsychotic risp eridone in patients receiving ECT. The authors have collectively treat ed 10 patients with ECT while they were receiving risperidone. There w ere no serious adverse events associated with this combination in thes e patients. We describe four of these cases below.
