Abstract
A modification of a semi-implicit scheme for solving stiff chemical di fferential equations in atmospheric chemistry is proposed to include a steady-state-approximation implicitly into the scheme. The linearized version of the method has similar characteristics as the method SIS, but allows for larger time-steps by suppressing numerical oscillations in the rapidly reacting species.
