A LLX procedure for carrier-free separation of the radioisotopes, Sc-4
7, V-48 and Cr-48,Cr-49,Cr-51, the 40 MeV alpha-particle activation pr
oducts of titanium has been developed. Sequential separations of the r
adionuclides produced in the titanium matrix through the nuclear react
ions (alpha, alpha pxn), (alpha, pxn) and (alpha, xn) have been perfor
med through LLX from aqueous H2SO4 and HClO4 acid media using the liqu
id cation exchanger, HDEHP, as an extractant. Purity of the carrier-fr
ee radiotracers at different stages of their separations has been veri
fied by gamma-ray spectrometry.
