Ar. Katritzky et al., BENZOTRIAZOLE AS A SYNTHETIC AUXILIARY - BENZOTRIAZOLYLALKYLATIONS AND BENZOTRIAZOLE-MEDIATED HETEROALKYLATION, Synthesis, (5), 1994, pp. 445-456
Recent advances in the use of benzotriazole as a synthetic auxiliary f
or the preparation of numerous organic derivatives are reviewed. Benzo
triazolyl derivatives are converted into other benzotriazolyl intermed
iates for further transformations. The displacement of the benzotriazo
le moiety by nucleophiles affords many useful organic compounds. Thus,
(alpha-heteroalkyl)benzotriazoles are proved to be efficient aminoalk
ylation, amidoalkylation, alkoxyalkylation, acyloxyalkylation, and thi
oalkylation agents for many classes of compounds.
