In this paper, a new method is proposed which renders possible shiftin
g of the optimum operating point for total harmonic distortion to any
desired point on the de transfer characteristic of active-loaded bipol
ar junction transistor amplifiers, by incorporating an additional curr
ent source into the circuit to obtain different de current levels in d
river and load transistors. A new analytical expression is derived to
calculate the amount of additional current. Furthermore, two new circu
it topologies are introduced for harmonic distortion reduction, which
will be used according to the now direction of the additional current.
