We have computed limb-darkening coefficients for five commonly used ne
ar infrared photometric bands, namely R, I, J, H, and K, using the ste
llar atmosphere models by Kurucz (1991). Since the behaviour of the sp
ecific intensities is very dependent on the range of effective tempera
tures considered, we have adopted three analytical approximations to t
he limb darkening: linear, quadratic and square root. The least-square
s method has been adopted for the fit of the limb-darkening coefficien
ts to the model atmospheres.
