Seven known species of the genus Filenchus were found in soil samples
collected from the rhizosphere of wild and agricultural plants in the
central, western, and northern parts of Iran. F. facultativus (Szczygi
el, 1970) Raski and Geraert, 1987 was found in two types : finely roun
ded tail tip and bluntly rounded tail tip. F. acris (Brzeski, 1986) Ra
ski and Geraert, 1987 was found for the first time since its descripti
on. These species along with F. baloghi (Andrassy, 1958) Siddiqi, 1986
, F. discrepans (Andrassy, 1954) Raski and Geraert, 1987, F. misellus
(AndrBssy, 1958) Raski and Geraert, 1987, F. sheri (Khan and Khan, 197
8) Siddiqi, 1986 and F. vulgaris (Brzeski, 1963) Lownsbery and Lownsbe
ry, 1985 are reported for the first time from Iran.
